    Irfanview

I stumbled across a note today that the very popular Irfanview has an update available. Version 3.51 can now be downloaded. Here's some selected new features for v3.50. Thumbnails - rename (click on file name or F2/F6), context menu (right mouse button), drag&drop files to folders in directory tree (IrfanView internal drag&drop), send selected images by Email. New feature: Copy Shop (File menu): Send image from scanner to printer. New email plug-in features: BCC field and editing for TO/CC/BCC fields.

    Re: Irfanview

I loaded Irfanview and the first thing it did was change my little identifying icons for each file to the rorsarch blood splatch that is Irfanview. Haven't figured out how to change them back yet. Still working my way through the
help files. I don't to change the associations back do I?

That is what is supposed to happen when you associate that way. I associate all IMAGE types with IrfanView. This gives me a consistent initial view interface.

If I need to do something special with an image beyond Irfan's capabilities I open it from the other application, eg. Photodraw, XaraX, Paintshop, etc.

I use the association setups within multimedia apps, eg. MusicMatch, to manage the non-image file types.
