    Open Doc and Return to last edit (Word 2007)

    Is it possible to open a Word document and return to the location of your last edit just using a key combination and not having to actually bookmark the location when you save?

    Try pressing Shift+F5. This will return you to the location where the document was last edited.

    It's not entirely dependable, however, see GoBack (Shift+F5) doesn't work in some newly-opened documents for a description of the problem and a (laborious) solution.

    Thank you HANSV!

    I pasted the code into my normal.dotm, but I get a syntax error here...

    Public Sub AutoClose()

    Any suggestions?

    Did you remove the horizontal lines consisting of hyphens? They don't belong in the code, they were used on the web page to separate the macros.

    Re: Open Doc and Return to last edit (Word 2007)

    I did. That didn't seem to do anything.

    Just to be sure I'm doing this correctly...

    I copy the code and open Normal.dotm. Navigate to the Developer tab and open Visual Basics. Paste the code there and save Normal.dotm. (This is where I'm getting the error)

    Then I should be able to create a new document based on my new Normal.dotm and make edits, save, open & shift F5 to the last edit, right? If so, it's not working, but I'm not so sure I understadn what I'm doing, so ?

    I'm afraid I don't know what goes wrong. The line that you mentioned looks OK.
    I don't have Word 2007, so I can't test how the code works there. Hopefully someone who has Word 2007 can help.

    BTW, did you check whether Shift+F5 worked by itself, without using any VBA code?
