    Assistant Replacement (Word/2007)

In previous versions of Office, I occasionally used the Office Assistant to display a message. This was done when I didn't require specific action from the user. As long as they did nothing, the message remained visible.

In 2007 the Assistant is no more. Is anyone aware of any technique which will allow the MsgBox or even a UserForm to close on any user action?

You could create a userform with ShowModal set to False.
Place a label on the userform that covers the entire form.
Close the form in the On Click event of the label.

    Thanks Hans
That requires the user to click the form. I have the germ of an idea though building on what you suggested, and of course it requires more help.

Is it possible to set the form colour to transparent? If so, How?

See <post:=678,307>post 678,307</post:> for a demo of a semi-transparent userform (you participated in that thread). Although the demo is in Excel, it should work in Word too.

    Thank you Hans

I think that I will be able to understand this sufficiently to achieve the desired results. Will advise on completion, and seek help as required.

You never cease to amaze me. My memory isn't that good and I doubt that you work solely from memory. Must be your Access skills. <img src=/S/hailpraise.gif border=0 alt=hailpraise width=27 height=22>
