    Windows 2000/Access 97 Conflicts (97-SR2)

I am running Access 97-SR2 in a Windows 2000 system.
I tried to place a Microsoft TreeView Control, Version 5.0 (SP2) in a form and received the following messgae:

    "The OLE server isn't registered.
To register the OLE server, reinstall it."

Used Tools, AciveX Controls and registered the TreeView

    Received the following message:

"You don't have the license required to use this AciveX control.
You tried to open a form containing an OLE object or an ActiveX control or you tried to create an ActiveX control.
To obtain the appropriate license, contact the company that provides the licensed OLE object or ActiveX control."

Nothing in the MS knowledge base and nothing in help.

Is this a software conflict? Or is there something else I am missing?

I believe that version is associated with VB5, while the libraries that come with Windows 2000 expect VB6 controls. Unless you have VB 5 Professional or Office 97 developer installed, you probably may not have a license or the libraries for the control on that machine.

    Charlotte,

Makes sense. I have passed that info to my IT people too. (They certainly did not have the answer!)

    Thanks,
    Kirk
