Blinking Cursor AND Auto Updates For SP3 (XP SP1)

(Edited by WHOwhatWHEREwhen on 28-Aug-08 20:55. i typed a "#" instead of a "3" )
    )
I made my blinking cursor "fatter" so i could see it, but now its so hard to type, i never know which character i'm actually on. I've tried EVERYWHERE.. Does ANYONE know HOW to change it back?

    Also, yesterday XP tried to d/l and install auto updates for SP3(I currently have SP1) and it failed. Should i do something to try and fix this or is SP1 ok to keep for now? (not that i know what EITHER is good for )
    Many thanks xxx

    Did you look in Control Panel in "Mouse". On the Pointers tab you can choose the various "states" of your pointer.

    Are we talking about Windows or a word processing program ???

    Go to the My Computer icon on your desktop, right click on it and then choose Properties. When the System Properties window opens, on the General tab, make a note of what Service Pack you have installed and then any other system information is on the tab and let us know.

    i took a screen print but it now says SP3. It must have "worked itself out" becuz yeaterday (before i got the error about it "not being able to successfully instal;l the update" it said Service Pack1). i tried the Mouse properties but there's nothing there about the "width of the cursor"

    i found it! It wasn't the "pointer" it was the "cursor" ) On XP its in the "Accessibility" options and on Vista its the "Ease Of Access". It's under "Thickness Of Cursor" selection.

    Thanks for posting back with your solution.

    To make it more clear... go to Start>Control Panel>Accessability Options>Accessability Options>Display Tab to find this setting.
