My boss has managed to create an empty taskbar icon that will not disappear if clicked on, does not respond to right clicking, and is still there after rebooting. Also, there is no program running that would create an icon. Any thoughts on making it go away?

I recall a similar problem relating to screen-savers.
Try changing / stopping SS current setup.

Nope. That's a pretty common thing to get a blank one when the screen saver starts. (I've seen some people's taskbars with over 20 accumulated icons) But I did double check just now, and the SS settings don't appear to affect it. We have the rock of Gibraltar of taskbar icons here. Glad it's not on my screen, or I'd go batty.
