Data from host address/port number (2003)

I have been asked to develop an Access database which received data from a "data stream" provided by some piece of electrical equipment. I am able to view the data by using hyper terminal and connected to a host ip address and port number via the TCP/IP winsock. This displays the data I need to retrieve.

I'm at a loss as how I can get this data into my access tables. I can't save this as a file within hyperterminal as this will be an on-going automatically updating database. I need to find a means of accepting the data and then clearing the data stream.

Has anyone done anything like this and able to give me a few pointers

    Thanks

    John

Unless you want to master using the necessary API's yourself, you should probably get an ActiveX control for data acquisition, e.g. TConnect.

    Thanks Hans
I've download the program, manual and sample apps from their website. I'm just trying to work out how to set the interface programmatically, rather than via their selection screen. Have you used this before? Do you have any sample apps you can post?

I'm sorry, I have no experience whatsoever in this area.

Re: Data from host address/port number (2003)

I downloaded and used the TConnector from tec-it.com The software works really well, though the sample Access code was a bit of a pain as it used an earlier version of some of the code which no longer worked properly. With a bit of trial and error it is now picking up data from a IP address (also did this directly from a file) and processing it.
    Thanks for the pointer
