    Date field (Word 2007)

I am trying to put an automatic date field in a form template. Which date format can I use that will put in the current date (today) but can also be changed to a future date? The reason I need this is because the people who will be using this form often print their forms a day or two in advance so they post date them. Thanks for any help.

Any manual changes to a date field will be lost if the field is updated, and this often can occur automatically during printing or print preview.

If users want to override the date field in a new document, I suggest they convert the code to text and then edit it. This is known as "unlinking" and the easiest method is to select or click in the field and press Ctrl+Shift+F9.
