Form Crashes opening another form (2000 to 2003)

    Here's a new one.

I have a Form (the one that lodas slow), which has on it some details and a Subform.
There is a button on the main form that opens up another form with a Calendar on it, and another one on the subform that pop's up a form with some other related detail.

All works brilliantly no problem at all.
I have some simple filter buttons at the top, that also work fine and when they have been applied so do the buttons that pop up the other forms.

BUT.... If I use an Access Filter from the Right Mouse shortcut menu, OR filter by selection, OR filter by form
and then try to open either of the other forms I get into an error message that says

    Run-time error '2486':

You cannot carry out this action at the present time.

Then NO VBA Code will work at all and you have to use Task manager to close Access.
Even the main forms Close Button DoCmd.Close fails with the same error message.

The only line of code against the button is
    DoCmd.OpenForm "NameOfFormIsHere"

Two days ago it was working and now it isn't.
    I have done a Compile
    A Compact and Repair
I have tried to Remove the forms Module and then save it then Paste the Code back in (NOPE).
I have tried to create a New database and Import the Lot bacxk (NOPE).

Always bombs at the same point.

I have tried it using Access 2000
In Access 2003 it crashes when an Access Filter is applied,
with Access Has encountered an error and then out!
BUT... Using 2007 with Filter By Selection and then any buttons (JUST FINE)

    So where's the bug?

It does the same thing whether the data file is on the Network OR Local Drive.

I am not at a loss as to how to correct this other than say DONE'T use Access Filter.

    Any help very much appreciated.

OK, I have the answer to this, but like Form load issue you have to ask yourself WHY.

Bearing in mind that the issue causes the form in 2000 to hang
In 2002 and 2003 Access crashes
    It works in 2007.

Anyway, the problem appears to be that there was a DLOOKUP function on the Subform.
    Removing this cured the problem.
Now I just have to figure out HOW to do the lookup without Dlookup.
I cannot use the query because it needs to be updateable, and when I used an outer link, OR a Correlated subquery, it became NON updateable.

I resolved this by using a Custom Function in the query,
since unlike SQL SERVER Expressions that are correllated sub queries yield a read only query (another why there then).
