Custom Task Bar Toolbar (XP SP2 and XP SP3)

    Hi Everyone,

I a interested to no if it is possible to make a toolbar to go within the taskbar near the clock. I would like it to have a combo box with a slection of options and a text box for the user to input a number. The purpose of the toolbar is for the user to select there deapartment from the combo type a filename in the text box (which is a 6 digit number) and the onupdate of the textbox open the file from the correct location.

If this is possible, where is the best place to start, is it something that can be written with software already with windows xp.

    Many thanks
    Regards

Is the location of the toolbar critical ??? Have you tried right clicking on the Taskbar and selecting the Toolbar>New Toolbar option and attempting to create what you want there ??

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply,

The location is not critical and yes I have tryed but all it does is add links to locations etc. I need to put a combo for department selection and a textbax for file name. I was hoping to use VBA to create this, I think if I new how to put the combo box there I could work the rest out myself

    Thanks

I didn't know you were already experienced with VBA but not knowing if the location is critical, I was going to suggest you take a look at: AutoIt v3 - Automate and Script Windows Tasks - For Free!. Of course, this means learning a new "language" but AutoIt is a good scripting language.
