    Uninstaller for Win98

Friend of mine gave me an IBM ThinkPad to evaluate, running Win98SE. There's a sticker on it that says it can run Win2K, but it only has 192MB of RAM installed, so I'm not going to think about trying THAT install now. It has Norton AV 2001, which I'd like to get rid of. I tried using Add/Remove Programs, but the ThinkPad froze up during the early stages of that, and now the removal won't work at all. The Symantec Removal Tool only works with Norton AV 2003 or newer. I thought about Revo Uninstaller, but it requires Win2K or later. Any suggestions for an uninstaller that will work on this antique?

If the Symantec removal Tool doesn't do it for you, Then you could do it the "hard" way. Regedit was around for Win98SE ( I think )
Go into Regedit and search for any mention of Norton and Syamntec and delete them. Then look into Windows Explorer and look for any NortonSymantec folders and do likewise.
Not as easy but still should be effective.

program uninstaller for windows 98 - Live Search has links to many programs that say they are compatible winth Windows 98. I don't recall using any of them so I can't say anything one way or the other about any of them. At least you have a lot to check out. <img src=/S/grin.gif border=0 alt=grin width=15 height=15>

    Hi John,

If you can find the original Norton install disks you should be able to re-do the installation, then uninstall in the normal way.
