    Word 2007 Themes (Word 2007)

I am having the darnedest times with themes.

I have a document, and select the theme (Page Layout / Themes) but nothing happens -- nada. No fonts, no colors...nothing.

What the heck am I doing wrong here?

    Baffled,
    Chuck

    Hi Chuck,

I haven't completely figured Themes out, but I do know you need to use specific styles in order to make them work. Try using Heading 1, 2, 3 and Title and subtitle in a document, then hover over various entries in the Themes panel.

If you're working all in normal (or even Body Text), Themes just won't do anything.

Also, take a look at style sets -- they can also help you create a "look" for different kinds of documents.

    Kim:

Thanks. I think the biggest piece that I (believe) I've found is that just because Word can edit a file does NOT mean that the themes. will work.

I started switching around the documents I was using for trials. Some worked, some didn't.

So maybe sometimes you just use styles to give you a "hand up" in places where the themes just aren't going to cooperate!?

    Regards,
    Chuck
