    Help with Button Fonts/Theme (FP 2000 SR-1)

I created a website and customized the existing theme. At the time, I modfied the verticle button font to be the "theme" font (Maiandra GD/Bold). It worked, and changed it, globally, from the default theme font.

In viewing the site in Netscape, and at lower resolutions, I decided that I wanted to make the vertcle buttons and the font smaller. No problem with making the button smaller, just put the graphics in my graphic program and reduced the size by 25%. So far so good.

However, when I try and change the font from bold to regular and 10pt to 8pt, the program "appears" to accept the change if I use the "selected pages" option, but in viewing the site in either preview or IE5 or Netscape 6, the font change was not affected.

Additionally, I get an error message when I try and save the font change globally to the entire theme, after I get the message "if you change this it will affect the whole theme ..." the I get another message as it trys to change "An error occurred accessing your Front Page web files. Authors - if authoring against a web server, please contact the webmaster for this server's site. Webmasters - please see the server's system log for more details." I'm not doing this on a server, just my own computer, haven't uploaded to client's site, yet.

Any ideas? Grateful for any help.

P.S. I also tried to change the "button" font on the theme style sheet as well.

Okay - there are two questions here. For a particularly interesting discussion of a similar problem check out <A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.wopr.com/cgi-bin/w3t/showflat.pl?Cat=&Board=htm&Number=59934&page=&view =&sb=&o=&vc=1>this thread</A> on the HTML board. Nice to know it isn't just FrontPagers who have these kinds of problems. <img src=/S/shrug.gif border=0 alt=shrug width=39 height=15>
Arthur offers what I also think is the best solution, which to make the text part of the button image. For that you'll need an image editor of some sort.

As to your second question: what operating system are you using?

Sounds like you are encountering a permissions problem with the Operating system. These can be the devil to resolve "long distance". Do you have technical support available to you? You need to talk to them. Basically, your system has not given you the "rights" to update/change/add to the directories where FrontPage stores those files. As an ordinary user, you might not have the ability to solve this problem - this is where your tech support comes in.

    Good Luck!

This is happening on my own machine, I am not an ordinary user, but an administrator.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Ok - so you know where I'm coming from. <img src=/S/yep.gif border=0 alt=yep width=15 height=15> If you come up with good description of the rights FP needs in this situation - could you post them to this board? I'm sure we are going to see this question more often.

    Cheers

That's kinda where I'm stuck. I don't know where to look. What has me kinda boggled is that I did this before. I was able to change the font on the buttons, and do it globally, using the modify theme feature. So, that I can't do it now, has me confused.
