text jumps to left when printing (xp sp 2, msword 2003, hp laser jet 6p)

I use two printers at work. When I try to print with MS Word on the local printer (hp laser jet 6p), the text on the screen immediately jumps over to the left side of the document and the text is "piled" on top of itself, and the printed document looks just like it.

When I click file->print-> change printer, then change it back to the Laser Jet 6p, it prints fine. I have to do this with every new document. Please help. Sam

Does this occur in other applications than Word, for example when you print from Notepad or Excel?

    No, only with MS Word.

Since the problem is specific to Word, I'll move this thread to the Word forum.

Do you have the latest printer driver for your LaserJet?

I don't know what could cause this problem. You might look at Phil Rabichow's <!post=Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word,197827>Systematic Approach to Behavioral Problems in Word<!/post>.
