Access on a Peer to Peer network (2003 (9.0.3821 SR-1))

    Hi there!

The problem I have relates to two PC's which are connected via a hub. The Access app resides on PC1 and whilst they can see the folder and the app itself from PC2, when Access is open on PC1, they can't open it on PC2. No message is displayed; it just doesn't run. The app will run from PC2 when it is closed on PC1. I have checked the Select Tools | Options | Advanced and the "Ignore DDE Commands" checkbox is not checked. I would be most grateful if anyone has got any other suggestions that I can check/try?

    Cheers,

    Niven

By Access app, do you mean the MSAccess.exe executable, or an Access database (.mdb)?

    Sorry Hans,

Access Database (MDB). The plan is to split it front and back end, but I think I need to resolve this issue first.

    Cheers,

This kind of problem is usually caused by insufficient permissions. Access requires that all users have full permissions (read/write/create/delete) on the folder containing the database.

Also make sure that the Default open mode is set to "Shared", and not "Exclusive". (From menu bar: Tools | Options, Advanced Tab).
