    Driver/Firmware Updates?

Hello and greetings from the great free state of Tennessee,
I use "Secunia PSI (RC3)" for keeping up with the latest software on my "PC" But as i am only a "personal use" computer user i don't have the time to keep after all the other updates, (drivers, firmware, new bios, etc). My question is : Does any one know of, or have any experience using a "driver updater programs"? I know that there are several "out there" some free and some for $pay$. I wouldn't mind purchasing the software, if any one has any recommendations i would appreciate your input. Regards Plain Fred

    Fred,

This is one of my favorites. FILE HIPPO

In fact when I just went to the site to check the URL, I had a new video driver waiting there. Downloading it now.

    Re: Driver/Firmware Updates?

    Bob Hello,
I also use "File Hippo" http://filehippo.com/ but, what i am looking for is a program that "scans" my "PC" for all driver applications, and then let's me know what updates are needed. looked in "device manager" and frankly to go through that list is way above my pay-grade. So far http://www.zhangduo.com/driverbackup.html
My Drivers is "leading the pack" for my best guess as to which program will work for me. Regards Plain Fred.

    Re: Driver/Firmware Updates?

I like it too and have recently purchased it, after installing it on a trial basis. I got my confirmation email and "registration" instructions, which WILL NOT take, so I'm a bit upset with them. I've been waiting for almost two days for an answer to my query about what to do to fix the registration problem. I hope they come through soon.

    Re: Driver/Firmware Updates?

    Hello,
Well after doing the "trial thing" (and unanswered Email questions) i'm still puzzled. Although each program i tried found "drivers " that were needing updates none agreed with each other as to which needed "updating" ...so until some program comes along that is more consistent i guess i'll have to "slug through" the Device Manager on my own. Regards Plain Fred.
