Access 2007 should be able to open a database created in Access 2003 without conversion.
If the database contains code that runs automatically when it is opened, try holding down the Shift key while opening the database, until the database window appears. This suppresses all startup options of the database.

Do you get a Security Warning when you open the db?

By default Access 2007 disables all code until you give it permission to run.
