    Batch renaming files

    Hi,

I have a ton of pictures that I need to rename. I normally do it either in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro using their batch rename process. This works fine as long as I don't need to change the name again. For example if I have 200 files that are sequentially named as c1rh, c2rh, c3rh and so on, and now I want to change them to b1rh, b2rh, b3rh .................... the renaming works fine but the sequence of the files changes. I'm assuming its because the number that has been assigned is actually seen as a text file vs a numberic file. I've tried various sharewares, tried the renaming process in windows etc. but have yet to find a way to rename a batch of photos and retain the original sequence.

    Thanks,
    Leesha

I'd wait to see if someone comes up with a program that can do what you want.

If not, you could write a VBA procedure to be run from Word, Excel or Access that renames the files.

Have you searched here in The Lounge for "batch rename" as there have been lots of threads on this topic?

I've been using Flash Renamer for years. It will certainly do what you want. I don't use it all that often, but when I do, I'm amazed at what it's capable of. It was a good $20 investment.

    Hi,
I've been using Flexible Renamer for years now. It's free and very configurable.
You can find it here : FreeWareFiles.com
