Adobe acrobat reader

Just now I got a newsletter and tried to read one of the articles but got a message which seemed to indicate that the Adobe version installed is incapable of reading it. What needs to be done to enable me to read it or download the entire newsletter which is said to be in pdf format? Regards.

    Re: Adobe acrobat reader

Seems like you are trying to read the newsletter from inside the browser. Could be a problem with a browser plugin.

Have you tried to download the pdf file (right-click and save) and open it with Adobe Reader?

    Re: Adobe acrobat reader

Hi Argos I download the entire newsletter by right clicking as you suggested, saved it to the desktop, double clicked to open it but got the attached message. Next I tried to open it with Adobe 9 but when it opened there is no text visible. I have encountered this problem before with this particular newsletter so any further suggestions would be appreciated. Incidentally, I just ran Secunia yesterday and all the relevant patches were said to be up to date. Regards

On a URL line IN Firefox, type: aboutlugins and press enter. See if you have a section like this attachment.

Thanks for responding at this late hour.... at least for us in the Uk it is now 10-40pm. but I see from the world clock that it must be somewhere between 2-40 & 5-40 for you. Regards....

    Re: Adobe acrobat reader

I'm at a bit of a loss to explain or understand what's happening to you, Dave. Is this newsletter something you can share with us so I can try the same thing too? In other words, is the newsletter an email that you received? If so, does it have a link to the web version of the document or is the PDF you are trying to read contained in an email? You seem to have a good Acrobat plugin installed and from within Firefox, clicking on a PDF link "should" open your Reader. That's what it does for me.

Hi Al. A thousand thanks for your responses. By all means you can log on to this web site < http://www.ccmag.com/ > which will reveal the newsletter on the left side of the home page (see attachment) which, if you click on, will open the current PDF newsletter that I am having the problem with. Hope this helps you see what I am up against.... that is, if you encounter the same glitches. Regards Dave.

As far as I can tell, there's nothing wrong with the PDF file - I can view view it in Internet Explorer 7 and Firefox 3 without problems. You could try to uninstall and reinstall Adobe Reader (from Adobe - Adobe Reader download) to see if that solves the problem.

    Re: Adobe acrobat reader

I had the same experience as Hans did, Dave. It opens just fine for me in Adobe Reader 9. I think you should try Hans' suggestion to un-install and re-install the Adobe Reader to see if that improves the situation. But for me, it's A O K...

    Re: Adobe acrobat reader

Hi Gentlemen. I just unistalled Adobe and downloaded version 9 from the link Hans indicated and was instantly able to open both the entire PDF magazine and individual files straight from the email newsletter. Really strange things these computers, truth is I will never master their idiosyncrasies though I will keep on trying and will partially succeed with the great help of guys like you, it seems that as soon as one hurdle is overcomes there is another waiting in the wings to ruffle my feathers. Sincere thanks again.
