    Re: Yamaha Sound card

It wouldn't hurt to check the file associations in Media Player to see if it is set to play what you need. Open it up and select Tools, Options, File Types, and try selecting ALL.

If you are not hearing windows sounds I'd righ-click on the small loudspeaker icon on the taskbar by the clock and adjust the sound level if it needs it.

    Hope this helps!

Maybe it just doesn't like Microsoft - it wouldn't be alone!

How about removing the soundcard and reseating it? It may have been badly seated to begin with, and have come further loose when adding the USB card. If that fails, try it without the USB card. If that fixes the problem, you could try the USB card (or both) in a different slot.
