    VBA Project locked (2002)

    Help...

I need to access a VBA project that I have locked, and mislaid the password. I have tried every password that I can think of [aaargh]. Does anyone know of any utilities that I can use to unlock, is this even possible? <img src=/S/crossfingers.gif border=0 alt=crossfingers width=17 height=16>

    Thanks

There are (commercial) tools for this, e.g. Advanced VBA Password Recovery.
Be careful when Googling for alternatives - it's all too easy to end up on sites of doubtful character.

    Thanks Hans.

From what I can see, there is a 39.00 cost. If there is no alternative then I will give that a go (I have no option). Do you have personal experience with this?

No, I don't, but Elcomsoft has a good reputation.

The problem here is that the password protection on a workbook can usually be bypassed easily, but the VBA project protection is much stronger.

Don't you have a backup with non-protected code?

If I remember correctly, there are Loungers who do have Elcomsoft or a comparable utility. You might wait and see whether they chime in (perhaps even offer to unlock the code for you).

    Hans,
My impatience got the better of me and I bit the bullet. I must say that it was money well spent, it removed the password in seconds. A great utility to hang on to.
    Thanks.

It is a good utility. You can remove the password using a hex editor, but it's easier with a program like that! <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
