3 Color Gradient Fill at 45`

I am trying to create a picture with Green, Yellow, Red gradient fill effect at a 45 degree angle where the colors would be evenly distributed at a third of the entire square each.

The attached Excel workbook (Excel 2003) has the colors and angle very roughly to what I am looking for.

I tried my hand at this using PowerPoint 2007, but didn't know how to do the 3 colors (their rainbow presets have 5 colors).

    Any help is always appreciated.

    Jerry,
Could you ensure the width and height are equal so that the yellow bisects the square. Also, could you make the gradient more harsh (a more abrupt change between the colors). The gradient as is gives only a thin line of yellow and I'd like the width of yellow to be more comparable to the width of the green and red.

What is the best way to save this as well? I can only save it directly a a bitmap. Otherwise, I have have to copy it and past it into a blank Paint file and save it as a jpeg or png.

    Thanks

When I right click on the image and select Save Picture As from the drop down menu I am offered to save the file as a .jpg by default. How are you trying to save it ??

When I right click and select Save Picture As, I am only given the option to save it as a bitmap.

This is a quirk of IE that has generated many postings on the IE board. If I recall correctly, emptying your Temporary Internet Files usually cures this problem. If that doesn't work, you could try a search here in the Lounge.

    From here......

To troubleshoot and resolve this behavior, empty the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder, and then delete the files in the Downloaded Program Files folder that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. To do so:

    1. Start Internet Explorer (if it is not already started).
    2. Empty the contents of the Temporary Internet Files folder. To do so:
    a. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    b. Click the General tab.
    c. Under Temporary Internet files, click Delete Files.
    d. When you are prompted to delete all temporary Internet files, click OK.
    3. In the Downloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk, remove the files that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. To do so:
    a. On the Tools menu, click Internet Options.
    b. Click the General tab.
    c. Under Temporary Internet files, click Settings.
    d. Click View Objects.

The list of program files that are downloaded to the SystemRootDownloaded Program Files folder on your hard disk appears in the Downloaded Program Files window.
    e. In the Status column, note the files that are listed as either Unknown or Damaged. Remove these files. To do so, right-click the file, and then click Remove.
    f. When you are prompted to confirm the removal, click Yes.
    g. Close the Downloaded Program Files window, and then click OK two times.
    4. Save an image in Internet Explorer to test and determine if the issue is resolved.

If the issue continues to occur after you remove all downloaded program files that are listed as Unknown or Damaged, try removing the other downloaded program files that are on the list.

Note: The next time that you need one of the files that you removed from the Downloaded Program Files folder, you will receive a prompt to download the file to your hard disk in Internet Explorer.

Re: 3 Color Gradient Fill at 45`

    Doc,
Unfortunately, that did not work after going through all of the steps.

I did, however, find that I have multiple Temporary Internet Files on my hard drive (7 actually). Does the IE Tool option delete files from all of these? One of these Temporary Internet files seems to contain hidden (as indicated on its Properties tab) files that don't even reveal themselves after I select 'Show hidden files and folders' in the Tools, Folder Options..., View tab.

I can't answer your question about the IE tool option deleting the Temp files in those folders. I don't know.

One other thing you might try to help clean up these folders is to go to Start>All Programs>Accessories>System Tools>DiskCleanup. It will analyze your system and present you with a window of options for what to cleanup. After selecting the areas to cleanup, run the tool and it will do it's thing in a minute or two. See if that does the trick.

The other thing you can try to save the file as a .jpg is to right click on the word Attachment in Jerry's post and select Save target as from the drop down. That should give you the .jpg option as a default.
