    Select WholeStory without reverse highlighting (Word 2000 +)

    One can use Application.Selection.WholeStory to highlight a whole document.

    But WholeStory highlights the complete document and destroys the document position of the user.

    How can I get the range of the whole document so I can do some processing without affecting both the display and the document position of the user?

    Thanks!

    It depends on what you want to do. You can often manipulate the contents of a document using code without actually selecting the contents. For example, instead of

    Selection.WholeStory
    Selection.Font.Name = "Arial"

    you could use

    ActiveDocument.Range.Font.Name = "Arial"

    The latter instruction will leave the insertion point (or selection) alone, it just sets the font for the entire body of the document.
