Copy Test from Word to Excel (2003-2007)

I copied some standard text from a Word document to a column in Excel.
Some of the cells have spaces in front of the test.
I can edit the cell and delete the spaces, but is there an easy way to do this?
I need to delete all spaces up to the first letter of the text in a cell.

    thanks

    Used the Trim function.

So if the text you want to change is in cell A1 go to an empty cell say A100 and put in =Trim(A1)

Then if you want to you could copy as a value cell A100 back to cell A1

    Thankyou for the reply.

The Trim function didn't work, but maybe I mis- informed you, maybe they are not spaces at all.
Maybe they are invisible characters----It is the Halloween season you know.
I still need to remove them.

    I attached a sample.
    thanks again

They are non-breaking spaces. To remove them:
    - Select Edit | Replace...
    - In the Find what box, press Alt+0160 (using the digits on the numeric keypad).
    - Leave the Replace with box empty.
    - Click Replace All.
    - There will be some ordinary spaces left, you can use TRIM to get rid of those.

    Both solutions fixed me up.

I used Hans solution to remove the non-breaking spaces.
Some still had one space, so I used Tom's solution to remove the remaining space.

    Thanks to both of you
