    Gradient Fill (2007)

So, when I used to use Office 2003, and I added a shape to a slide, I could choose Borders and Shading, select fills, and select a gradient fill that would nicely blend two colors together. In fact, I could select a horizontal fill from, say, white to blue, and I could get white on the bottom, grade fill to blue in the middle, and grade fill back to white at the top. I can't even remotely begin to duplicate this technique in 2007. Am I missing something, or is this easy two-color gradient fill gone?

After you've read Echo's stuff PERSEVERE really the new gradient tool is much more powerful than the old one it's worth the effort of learning some new skills!

I agree that it is more powerful. I can do more.
With 2007, to get a medium blue outer area with a lighter area within the center, you have to:
    1. Set 4 stops.
    2. Modify each stop to occur in a specific place on the screen.
    3. Select each stop area and pick a color to fill it.

In 2003, you choose gradient fill, pick a color, and pick a style.

The 2007 method is much more powerful, but in this case, sorry, 2003 is much easier. A case of overkill, IMO.
