    Hi -
    Is there a way to rename a tab without downloading an extension? Thank you.

    You can do that with a bookmarklet (a special type of bookmark)

    Right-click on the bookmarks toolbar and choose New Bookmark
    Place the following code into the Location field.
    <pre>java scriptfunction() {document.title=prompt("Enter Page Title",document.title);})();</pre>

    To rename a tab just click on the bookmarklet.

    Thanks for that, Tony.

    I finally found another way from http://mozilla.gunnars.net/firefox_b..._tutorial.html

    that is easier for me. Right click the tab on the Toolbar: go to Properties,edit the name in Name box.

    I think the word "tab" is being used in two different ways in this thread.

    The second post refers to a tab in which a page is loaded. Those tabs show the page's <title>. Any changes here are temporary because the browser will lose the customozation when the page is reloaded.

    The third post refers to a bookmark saved to the Bookmarks Toolbar (a special bookmark folder that displays as a toolbar).

    I guess the key question is: what did the original poster have in mind? <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>
