show images in subform (Access 97)

I have a requirement to show images in a subform.
I notice that the image control cannot be a bound column, you have to set its picture imdependantly.

When i do this, of course it shows the same pic all the way down the visible page.
Is there a technique for showing the correct images in the subform?

Or is there another way to do this?

I assume that you mean a continuous form. Showing a different image in each record of a continuous form could be very resource-intensive, so it is not a good idea.

Yes it is a continuous form.

I know it can be resource intensive, but they are just thumbnails so shouldn't be too bad.

Is there a technique I could use?

You'll have to store the images in a table and use a bound OLE control to display them.
This is generally not recommended, but if the images are small it might be OK.

Thanks Hans, i was thinking along those lines. If we get too many i may have to have a tem table in a temp database.

By the way how do you storeole images in a table? do you just supply the address and name?

If you want to store an image in a table, use an OLE Object field.
In datasheet view, right-click the field and select Insert Object from the popup menu.
See for example the Picture field in the Categories table in the Northwind sample database.

Thanks Hans, as usual a very clear explanation.
