start up switches (2003) (2003)

There used to be a letter that was added onto the path to stop Excel from loading "Book 1" on startup.

Does anyone know if this is still available in 2003? If so could you refresh my memory on what the format was?

Thanks

I think you're looking for /e

Some useful references:
Description of the startup switches for Excel
Inhibit Excel’s startup workbook
Waggers
If at first you do succeed, you've probably missed something.

I thought that but I guess I've forgotten how to apply it. It's one of those "use it or lose it" things compounded by the seniors thing I guess. :-)

Thanks for the responce. I'll keep playing with it for awhile.

Right-click the shortcut icon that you use to start Excel.
Select Properties from the popup menu.
The Target box will probably contain

"C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice11Excel.exe"

Change this to

"C:Program FilesMicrosoft OfficeOffice11Excel.exe" /e

Click OK.

Note: it is possible that the Target box contains a different text and cannot be edited; this means that it is a special 'magic' shortcut. You cannot modify such a shortcut, so you'd have to create a new one.
