Word XP is ruining my template (XP)

I have a proposal template that works fine for my users except on XP. On XP all the sections which are "protected for forms" print out with annotations showing the style names (see attached file).

I don't own XP and so cannot advise users on how to turn this "feature" off ... anyone out there have an idea?

    They "print out" with annotations?

Check the following on XP Word:

Hit File-Open and make sure documents are the selected file types, not recover text option.

Hit View and make sure Print Layout is selected.

Hit Alt-F9 to make sure you're not viewing codes.

Go to Tools-Options, Print tab and make sure you're not printing things you don't want, like field codes.

Thanks Dreamboat ... I sent your response to my user. And yes, he insists that the annotations are printing.

Okay. I just don't know what he means by "annotations". Comments?

He sent me a screen shot which I attached to my original post. The "annotations" look like pop-up formating descriptions and the text looks marked-up. <img src=/S/sigh.gif border=0 alt=sigh width=15 height=15>

Strange. Your attachment almost looks as if the print is including the comments that the built-in Word 'Assistant' displays when you hit Shift F1 albeit in a more refined format.
A couple of thoughts: (1) Did this text come from another source - i.e. desktop publishing program such as Quark??
    (2) Make sure Track Change is NOT enabled. Also - (don't have XP at home but I don't think it's that different from '97) check Tools, Options, Print tab and see what print option has enabled (i.e. 'include comments/print field codes - unlikely but have a look).

Geeze! I apologize! Was your attachment always there? I'm still not used to that!

I've never used the track changes in XP, but that IS what it looks like. I have XP at work too...

Looks like somebody protected it for track changes instead of for forms.
