    Index (2003)

    Hi there
    I have this big workbook with many sheets (about 60 or so). To make navigating easier I have made an idex page. Works wonderful.

    My question is, is there a formula that can update the rest of the info on this index page. We can't hard code because if someone adds another page, it will look for the wrong data. At the moment we tried ='&A6&'!E58 but that doesn't work.

    Thanks

    Sorry, that was a typo. I'll edit my reply.

    Edited by HansV to remove superfluous = from formula.

    You can use
    <code>
    =INDIRECT("'"&A6&"'!E58")
    </code>
    The INDIRECT function converts a text string to a cell reference. For example, if A6 contains Summer Sales, the above formula is equivalent to
    <code>
    ='Summer Sales'!E58</code>

    Jeanette:

    To organize your large workbooks you could try <post#=643011>post 643011</post#> . For an existing workbook select all your worksheets and copy to the sample workbook after the first sheet.
