    Outlook Editor (Word 2003 11.8227.8221 SP3)

    I am using:
    Word 2003 11.8227.8221 SP3
    Microsoft Outlook 2003 11.8217.8221 SP3

I have selected Word as my editor for Microsoft Outlook which suits me fine. Starting up a session and responding to emails is all OK until I reply to an email that was sent by a friend using Vista; then a warning message pops up to say that Microsoft Outlook will now use the default editor and subsequently it remains so until I go back into the options and re-select Word as my editor.

For the technically minded the headers for this email are shown below but all personally indentified information is replaced by ££££££.

I have a gut feeling there is a patch I need to apply to either WORD or MICROSOFT OUTLOOK that stops this annoying sequence of events. Can anyone help me out with this one please?

Is your friend also using Office 2003? If he or she is using Office 2007, have you installed the Office 2007 compatibility pack?

Yep it's loaded but makes no difference. The issue is also present in my laptop.

Tried most of these options except for a complete re-install. It maybe this is an underhand way of forcing me to upgrade to Outlook 2007.

Before I forget again, welcom to Woody's Lounge.

I don't think it is an attempt to force an upgrade. In searching around a little there are similar complaints about Outlook 2007 & IMAP.

If you have your A/V scan outgoing e-mail you might try disabling the outgoing scan. That has also been known to cause issues.

Thanks for your comments. Using ESET which is easy to turn off, however even with that "off" the problem is still with me. Frustrating issue we have here.........

If the attachment is not zipped you could try that.

Let's try again. Have you also tried a detect and repair for Outlook?
