    The Volume Bitmap is incorrect (vista business)

    I am getting the following error that check Disk found and that chkdsk /f does not seem to correct Is there a software out there that will rebuild the volume bitmap without reformatting my hard drive.???
    I am not having problems with my hard drive except that the system restore wont work and I have deactivated it to get rid of any corrupt system repair points and I cannot get a backup software acronis to start. otherwise all seems okay
    The Volume Bitmap is incorrect for my c drive. Is there a program out there that will repair sectors/ correct the volume bitmap without loosing data or reformatting ??? partition magic from Norton???

    Have you set the disk check to run (and repair) at the next boot and then re-booted? CHKDSK can not fix a drive that is in use.

    If you continue to have issues after running chkdsk at boot time that is generally an indicator of an impending disk failure. You need to back up your system ASAP. Also, do some more hardware disk checking and even start checking into a new HD.
