    Question On PC Bus Architecture

    Hi,

Simple question, a bit of clarification ...

    Is 64-bit/66MHz PCI a form of PCI-X?

I'm asking because I know my DELL 1600SC server has 2 x PCI-X slots but I'm looking at buying an Adaptec 3410S 1917400 U160 SCSI Raid Controller Card (64-bit/66MHz PCI) off eBay and trying to figure if it's compatible.

    Any help appreciated <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

Re: Question On PC Bus Architecture

Thanks ... I was very lucky in that no one else bid so I got a new RAID card for 9 which had a Buy It Now of 57 and in fact gets sold in some shops for a staggering 750!!!! And it works!

Unfortunately (nothing to do with the post I raised) it doesn't work with VMWare ESX 3.x which is what I really wanted it for (ESX only properly works on SCSI or SAN) so I'll probably have to use VMWare Server instead.
