Installers Hall of Shame

This link contains a list of well-known programs that come with "uninvited" add-ons/ extras. Most appear to be of the non-malware variety - toolbars etc. - but still annoying if you're not told about them till during the install... if at all.

Although I find such extras slightly annoying, I don't really mind as long as I do get the chance to decline them during install.

I can understand that developers providing freeware, in particular non-commercial developers such as Piriform (CCleaner, Recuva, Defraggler) get a bit of extra income by including other software in their installs. I'd prefer the "Install this unwanted extra" check box to be clear by default though.

That's sadly amazing! I've got TEN of 'em on my system and not sure if I caught the unwanted junk. One day, when I have time I need to go on a hunt ...

In my few short years as a SysAdmin, I've run across many of them, and they really *are* a pain when trying to install just the software you want across a network. On more than one instance, I had to bite the bullet, install all, and then go back and uninstall the added "features" later.
