Costs by date, name and product (Excel 2007)

Hi, I am looking to be able to formulate a list of costs on the attached spreadsheet that will show me by date, name and product? this will enable me to show in date order costs by name for products used each day. (the attached is only a snapshot of data I have but i have kept it to a minimum)

The Client number is related also to the name..

    Many thanks

A pivot table would be a good way to do this.

    Click anywhere in the table.
Select Data | PivotTable and PivotChart Report...
    Click Next >.
    Click Next >.
    Click Layout...
Drag Date, Name and Product to the Row area.
Drag Total Amount to the Data area.
    Click OK.
    Click Finish.

    See the attached version.
You can drag the field buttons around to obtain different summaries.

Right-click the attachment and select Save Target As... from the popup menu.
    Save the file to disk.
Change the extension in Windows Explorer to .xlsx.
You should then be able to open the file in Excel 2007.

You could add a column Year with formula =YEAR(A2) etc., and add that column to the pivot table.

See attached version (again, right-click and select Save Target As..., then change extension to .xlsx)
