Windows Explorer

Hello guys,
Windows explorer stopped responding when I tried to open my music folder recently.
I closed it down, showed some uncharacteristic patience and then tried to open it again.
I now find that it will not open that folder and after a period of time states "Windows explorer is not responding."
After trying a few things out, I discovered that if I change the folders name then it opens and I've not lost any data.
If I put the folder back to its original name, windows explorer again fails to open it.
I am happy to just leave the folder called something else but wondered if this problem could be cleared.
Anyone come across this before?

Which version of Windows? What service pack level is installed? Is the system up to date with fixes? Have you added or updated any software or hardware recently?

Have you tried running CHKDSK?
If not then type

chkdsk /f

to a command prompt. You will be asked if you want to run this next time the computer restarts. Answer Y and then reboot your computer.

Re: Windows Explorer

I am using Vista Ultimate and its fully up to date as of the 27 Oct 08. (I always check this site before downloading the updates).
Ran CHKDSK didn't find anything.
Folder was just named MUSIC, since the "glitch" have just renamed the folder MUSIC COLLECTION.
No other problems with my system.
It seems as if windows has a memory of that file being a problem and will not open that filename?
If I rename the file MUSIC and try to open it, a window opens, stays blank and then I get Windows explorer is not responding!
