    System Information

Somewhere I remember a shortcut key combination while on the desktop to show your system information on your computer.

This is similar in Word 2003 of using "Ctrl+Alt+F1" to bring up the System Information dialog box.

I need to get a snapshot of what video card, sound card, display, etc. the machine contains.

    I am using XP Professional.

    Thank you for the help

    Try Windows Key + Pause/Break Key <img src=/S/evilgrin.gif border=0 alt=evilgrin width=15 height=15>

Now running HP Pavilion a6528p, with Win7 64 Bit OS.

    Re: System Information

Dave's tip will take you to the System Properties window, where after you can click on Hardware and then Device Manager

If you want to create a shortcut directly to Device Manager, use:
    <code>c:WindowsSystem32devmgmt.msc</code>
as the target (or enter it into 'Run'...)

Alternatively, you can add Device Manager to the right click context menu of My Computer icon - see this (unverified) tip at TechArena.

    Re: System Information

Why not just go to Start>Programs>Accessories>System Tools and right click on "System Information" and either create a desktop shortcut or pin it to the Start Menu?

Press Windows key and Pause/Break key on your keyboard simultaneously to open System Properties window (all versions of Windows).

Thanks to one and all !!
That does the trick - had to jog the old memory cells.

When you are in Word you can use "Ctrl+Alt+F1" , is there any similar keystroke combination in Excel?

Thank you again for the multi-responses.

There is no built-in keyboard shortcut for System Info in Excel (see Keyboard shortcuts - Excel).

    Again, thanks to all.

One of Microsoft's mysteries - Word has it, but not Excel.
