    cookies (ff/3)

Whenever I try to view a video on CNN - I get
    "COOKIES DISABLED

Please enable cookies to view CNN videos."
I have gone to the privacy option and enabled cookies for cnn.com and www.cnn.com

I also have Zone Alarm and have enabled cookies for cnn there.

Is there some other place that I have not thought of to enable cookies? This seems to only affect videos from CNN

First of all try all the options at Web sites say cookies are blocked.

If that does not help another possibility is the file that stores cookies may be corrupt. To test this close Firefox, go to your profile folder and rename cookies.sqlite to cookies.tmp
Restart Firefox, and try to access those sites.

Renaming the file solved the problem. I now have a new Profile and the renamed one.

What is the impact of staying with the new profile - will I have to reenter passwords and userids that I had before? (I tested at least one other web site and didn't see anything different - my bookmarks all seem to still be valid in ff)

I take it you just renamed that one file rather than creating a new profile. Renaming that file forces Firefox to create a new cookies file. The renamed one is not used, and if the new file works you can delete cookies.tmp

Your passwords are stored in a different file and should still be available. One difference you will see is for sites that ask if you want to automatically be logged in when you visit, these should now remember the login details. If cookies.sqlite was corrupt you would normally have to login every time you visit.
