Versioning Documents (Word 2000+)

(Also known as Audit Trails)

I have been using this little application (attached) in tandem with some of my other “File Saving” macros, with no apparent side effects.

Drag the commented “FileSave” macro out of the first procedure and de-comment it.
Save the template in your Word Startup folder, and reload Word.
Each time you (as an end-user) or one of your macros issues a File Save command, a spare copy of the Active Document will be saved in the folder identified by your “DefaultFilePath” option.

To make use of the function from other macros, you will use “Call Versionize(doc)” where “doc” is a document variable.
For example
Sub myFileSaveAll()
' Tools, References; make a reference to Verions.dot
Dim doc As Document
For Each doc In Documents
Call Versionize(doc)
Next doc
End Sub
