Merging links into Firefox Bookmarks (FF3.0.4)

is there an easy way to merge a set of hyperlinks in Word .RTF format into a particular range of Bookmarks in Firefox 3 - without making an horrible mess?
Is it just a matter of saving the .RTF file as .HTML, and then importing the HTML into Firefox (Bookmarks -> Organise Bookmarks -> Import and Backup -> Import HTML)?
Are there Things I Should Beware Of?

    Thanks!

I suspect Firefox 3 expects the particular "Netscape" format used by Firefox 2 and other old browsers.

How about taking a detour through IE's Favorites folder instead? Of course, this assumes you find an easy want to convert the hyperlinks to .url files...

I'm sure there is a totally excellent tool for handling all this, but I have not kept up with the state of the art.
