Different toolbars on different documents (200 SR1)

The first document I create when starting Word displays its toolbars differently than all subsequent documents I create. The documents all display the *same* toolbars: all the usual formating/standard toolbars, plus two User toolbars. On all documents created after Document1, however, the User toolbars display in different order. All documents should be opening based on the same template, Normal.dot, right? So I'm confused as to why this is happening. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Something new has been added: After opening Document1, complete with User toolbars 1 and 2, subsequent documents open *without* a User toolbar 1. Can this have something to do with 2000 showing the most recently used toolbar icons on a toolbar? If so, is there a way to turn that off (as you can turn it off for the menus)?

Check each of the opened files to see what template is attached to each file and which add-ins are active with each file.
It is most likely that something is different in there.

    Thank you for your response.

It turned out to be two copies of "Firm Template" on the C: drive.

    Happy Friday!

I suspect that your problem is solved so to clear up what appears to be a misconception, no, few new documents should be based upon Normal.dot. The ideal is to have a series of templates for different kinds of documents and have your new documents based upon those templates.
