ShadowProtect 3.3

I know there aren't many of us who are using ShadowProtect but sometime within the past month (or so) StorageCraft have released version 3.3 of this imaging program, so I thought it should be posted for those who care to know.

The update can be downloaded here: Data backup software by StorageCraft

And to make your boot CD, you'll need to download the ISO file here: StorageCraft ISO Download (You need to input your serial number)

    Re: ShadowProtect 3.3

Can you install this new version over the top of a previously installed version, e.g., 3.1 or 3.2?

Will all your preferences and schedules be retained?

Do you have to re-activate after installing the update?

Need to know as I have a client who is using ShadowProtect and since I'm going over there to setup a new external hard drive etc., it would be great to be able to install this update at the same time.

    THANKS!

    Re: ShadowProtect 3.3

    Jeff,
Yes to your first two questions and No to your third (don't have to activate again). You may want to look at this thread in the SP forums. The "problem" mentioned here seems to affect some, but not all, users. Probably worth checking to ensure that all of the required services are running after you update your client's machine (and reboot).

    Re: ShadowProtect 3.3

John's already answered, but just to confirm, I saw this in the README (linked to in their forum) and it worked fine for me. My two overnight incremental jobs ran as normal and checked out OK.

2. Installing ShadowProtect
    -----------------------
**You can install ShadowProtect 3.3 over an existing 3.x install**
** Your current job definitions will be preserved in the new release **

And obviously my activation stayed active...

    Re: ShadowProtect 3.3

I think this needs another post rather than editing my earlier one. Since you didn't say what your client is running, I saw this when I was re-checking the two links in my original post:

ShadowProtect Small Business Server Edition has been updated. The security model has changed and will require you to re-activate your current product. Use the original license key you used to install the product. Once you install the update, your product will be turned into a 30 day full feature trial until you activate it. Please ensure you re-activate the product within the 30 days or the product will cease to backup. [This notice applies only to ShadowProtect Small Business Server Edition]

And the attached shows that there's no ambiguity - this clip is from the lead page (download).
