Re: Vista disc clean up (Windows Vista)

    Gus,
Hello. Every day i do a "Disk clean up", (all files) but do not delete the hibernation file ( You can as long as you don't want or need it ) Some have the hibernate function disabled, your choice. My hibernate file is about 3.0GB so no big deal, i just leave it be.If your running out of room you can also click the "more options tab " and delete all but the most recent restore point as well. I do that also on a regular basis as well, For some reason that option has never worked for me ("system restore") I use Acronis True Image 11 v8101 for all my backups and due to my " PC fooling" very frequent recoveries.I also run a free program CCleaner http://www.ccleaner.com/help/?v=2.14.750&l=1033 to help out with cleaning the "other bit's" Hope this is of some help .Regards

    Plain Fred.
I run disc clean about once a week and also use Win Optermiser5.
As you say the hibernation files can stay.[I do a bit of PC fooling myself]
Is it ok to delete the files discarded by windows up data?
    Gus..

Re: Vista disc clean up (Windows Vista)

    Gus,
Hello again, I'm not sure as to what those files are ? i think that when i installed windows sp-1 there was an option to delete the "windows backup files" (and i did) don't know if that is what they are. Maybe one of the more "tech savvy" posters can help you. Can you state as to what the windows "upgrade" was? That might give a clue as to what exactly that is. Regards
