    Macrovision

Does anyone know anything about a program called Macrovision? I never heard of it but when I ran Change Analysis Diagnostic, the file description said it was the Macrovison Security Driver (secdrv.sys).

I did a search on Google but didn't find any information that would help me discover what it is and what programs might be using it.

    Any information will be appreciated.

It is part of MacroVision SafeDisc, a program used by some developers (especially of computer games) to protect their program CDs against copying.

    See SafeDisc on Wikipedia.

Thank you Hans, I found that name when I ran the Change Analysis Diagnostic tool and never having used it, I wondered why it was on my computer. I presume something I used that had a CD placed it there.

I won't ask if I can remove it because I know I'll get the answer to leave it alone, it only takes up a small space and if it ain't broke, don't fix it. So I will save you and others the trouble.

The Change Analysis Diagnostic tool for Windows XP is available is a Microsoft knowldege base article describing the tool. You can leave it or uninstall it. If you don't use it uninstall it.

Use Control Panel | Add/Remove Programs.

Joe, I've searched ADD/Remove; Your Uninstaller 2008 Pro; Agent Ransack; Windows Search and Regedit and it's not found anywhere. I have no idea where it went, but I sure don't have it anymore. So, I guess I don't have to worry about it any more. Agreed?

If you can NOT find it, I suppose you don't have to worry about it.

I wasn't worried about it, but it has been removed from my to do list.
