fonts look different when sent to Internet Email (MS Word 2002)

Hello,

Whenever i finish creating my email from outlook 2002 i send it to email recepients who have yahoo or gmail. The problem is that when the yahoo and gmail recipients receive it the email, some of the fonts do not stay the same as in the email i created from Outlook. Some text are in Arial when all the text should be in Times New Roman. I've been trying to play around with the MS Word settings to see if i could correct this problem but so far no luck. I notice that in Yahoo the email fonts are correct (Times New Roman) while in Gmail the fonts are different and in Arial.

This is what i tried in MS Word: File>Options>save>Embed True Type Fonts.

I thought this worked for a second but in Gmail it's still showing Arial at times.

I'm not clear on how you are generating the email in Outlook and Word. Are you using Word as your mail editor in Outlook, or are you using Word's File > Send to > Mail recipient feature to email a document?

I rarely do either of those things, but perhaps it will help someone help you better. <img src=/S/smile.gif border=0 alt=smile width=15 height=15>

(Note that most people generally recommend NOT using Word as your mail editor in older versions of Outlook.)

Thanks for the reply. I am using MS word as the default editor for Outlook 2002. Everything looks fine if i send the email to another user in the company but when it is sent to a gmail user the format (fonts) are different and not all one standard font, like Times New Roman. Some characters show up in Arial, when it should all be Times New Roman.

Gmail appears to have ideas of its own on how to display e-mail messages. I get the impression that there's not much you can do about that. If the formatting really matters, you might send a short message whose formatting doesn't matter, with a carefully formatted Word document as attachment.
