    Fixed Column Widths (2003)

Is there anyway to save a file out of ACCESS that has fixed column widths?

I created a data file of members in an ACCESS database. There are approx. 215,000 records in the data. I need to load this data to the mainframe. In order to do so, I need the file saved out of access in a fixed column format. I know from Excel that a prn file does this. I was unable to find an option in ACCESS for saving to prn. Is there anyway to save a file out of ACCESS that has fixed column widths? And of course the file is too big for Excel to handle. Any help provided on this is appreciated.

If you are exporting the data manually, export it to a Text File, and when the Export Wizard starts choose Fixed Width.

If you are doing it via code using the Docmd.TransferText method, for the TransferType option use acExportFixed.
