    Validation rules (2003)

    Hello all,

How can I create a validation rule for the ID number in access which allows only 3 digits to be entered. And can you do validation rules for auto number and to start with the ID 001.

    Thanks

You can use an Input Mask to limit the # of characters entered. For example, a mask of 000 would require exactly 3 digits to be entered.

An autonumber starts with "1". If you want to display it with leading zeros, then use the Format property.

In design mode, if you select the ID field (table) or control (form) and put the cursor in the Validation Rule field, then press F1, you will get a context help page which I've found to be very helpful about setting up validation rules.
Hope this is of some help
