Office 2000 and updates (Windows VISTA)

I have Windows VISTA but use Office 2000. Are all the updates they keep sending me for Office 2007 of any use to Office 2000? Should I turn them off?

Have you installed the Microsoft Office Compatibility Pack for Word, Excel, and PowerPoint 2007 file formats? It lets you view and save document, workbooks and presentations in the new Office 2007 formats even if you're using Office 2000.
If so, the updates apply to this compatibility pack, and you should apply them.

    Thank you.

As a granny, I don't like the Office 2007 format, so haven't installed the compatibility pack - I don't think. Unless VISTA did it for me, like it does other things I don't understand.

Many new PCs have the <img src=/S/free.gif border=0 alt=free width=30 height=15> Microsoft Powerpoint Viewer installed these days. If it or any other viewer compatible with Office 2007 is intalled that would be a reason patches for Office 2007 are installed.
