Replace dash with a blank cell (excel 2000)

    hi,
i have used the formula =(A1)&"-"&(B1) to add JAN at column A , 2001 at column B.
    to have column C = JAN-2001.

Howerver, when i drag down the whole column of C with the formula, when column A and B is blank,
    column C with outcome a dash -

any ideas to modify the existing formula so that when blank record at cell A and cell B will return
blank also at cell C. delete the dash -

    thanks

    Try:

=IF(A1&B1<>"",(A1)&"-"&(B1),"")
