    Windows Vista Ultimate Backup Program

    Hi there: Quick question:

The backup program included in Windows Vista Ultimate does not allow you to specify which folders to backup. Instead, it allows you only to specify what types of files, right? Thanks.

Re: Windows Vista Ultimate Backup Program

Weellll, I'm gonna have to admit that I'm in the camp of those who have "passed" on Microsoft's available backup programs for several versions of the OS and that includes Vista. The MS backup programs have always been problematic for most people, lacking in options and choices and NOT backward compatible with previous versions.

As a consequence I think most of us use third-party software for backing up, whether individual files or an entire system. In my case I use ShadowProtect, a disk imaging system, which is FAST and backs up an entire hard drive in a matter of minutes. The individual files in the backup image can be restored if necessary.

Sorry I can't add more educational information on the Vista backup program but I've only started it once and quickly aborted that run.

Hi Joe: Not sure what you're asking. I just go to Backup program, and click "Set up automatic backup"...
